Martin and All, My tech came about something else before I received your post. Since another list member thought things should work out if I let the tech install JAWS in his shop, I gave him the JAWS CD and Auth CD and my auth code from when I installed it on the 98 computer. I gave him some installation notes and the phone number for FS and their hours. When I had my 98 machine built, I had my previous tech build it and he tested it in his shop and then he shipped it to my adaptive vendor who installed JAWS and Window-Eyes and my vendor delivered it. After all of that, it turned out that there was some problem with the motherboard and it had to be replaced. I guess it's a gamble regardless how you do it. Hope it all works out, personally I would instal Jaws as soon as needed and cope with any problems that will almost inevitably occur. ----- Original Message ----- From: Margaret Thomas To: jfw Sent: Monday, April 04, 2005 5:55 PM Subject: ILM Auth Keys & New XP Machine Hi All, My tech may be delivering my new XP machine later this week and we have been discussing the possibility of him installing JAWS 6.0 on it before he delivers it to save time. I installed 6.0 on my Win 98 se computer using the ILM authorization scheme, so I should have 2 keys left. I've heard that some people have lost keys when new hardware is installed and wonder if I could lose a key if he installs JFW 6 at his shop since we are planning on using an A/B switch for my printer and monitor since I am hoping to keep the ones I have so I can go back and forth with the 98 machine and the XP one until I get the hang of the XP or if there are problems with the XP after delivery and I need the 98 one. Does anyone have any opinions as to whether or not I should get him to install JAWS here or let him do at his shop? I'm the only customer he has who uses a JAWS or any other adaptive program.
