As a professional Microsoft Word trainer who wants to utilize JAWS to help teach our library patrons to use Word, I have been following this discussion with great interest. I have not written before about Word because I am a real beginner at JAWS. Therefore, I know the ins and outs of Word, but not the JAWS keys to press for them. That being said, headers and footers, including those for page numbering, are, by default, repeated on every page of a document unless there is a section break. Many times people don't want the page number to show on the first page. The way to eliminate that is to specify Different First Page" in the Page Setup menu. By default, this option is not activated, and so the header repeats on every page.
