MessageLarry, Just place a start and finish marker in the desired spots, then cut it and place it into a new sound window ( control plus the letter n ) and then under save as, tab once and there arrow down to .mp3 and then save it as you would any thing else. You don't need a plug in to do that. Then use any burning program such as Nero or Windows Media Player. Gold wave is not a burning program. Hope this helps. It will probably be as simple as placing the start marker where you want to begin your excerpt, and placing the finish marker where the excerpt should end. Then you would choose the "save selection as" item from the files menu. But here's where the potential problem lies. If you want to save the excerpted segment as a >MP3 file, you will need the LAME plug-in. The Goldwave website has ample instructions on how to install it, and it isn't difficult. I just thought you should know that this would be required if you wanted your output to be a .MP3 file. Honestly, I don't know if you can use Goldwave to do the actual burning to CD or not. I'm tempted to say no, but I'm not sure. Of course, there are any number of alternatives for completing that part of the job. My job is to excerpt certain portions of the audio file and save it to a CD to be used for training purposes. For example: I might be required to cut one or more unrelated clips out of a recorded phone conversation. Will goldWave do this? and do I still need the LAME plug-in? -----Original Message----- From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of shparker@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Saturday, December 15, 2007 1:51 PM To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: Excerpting MP3 audio files Hi Larry, If you use Goldwave, and the files you need to create must be in a .MP3 format, you will need to install a plug-in called LAME. There are instructions on how to do this on the Goldwave website, http://www.goldwave.com.
