Ok, stupid question here. if you deleted a message from the inbox, but you don't want it to go to the deleted items folder, where do you expect it to go?
If people wanted their e-mail to be sent to data heaven simply by hitting the delete key, then all the major e-mail programs would've done this already. sometimes people accidentally delete a message and it's a good thing that it got sent to the deleted items so you can retrieve it.
I'm not saying the request is unreasonable, but such a keystroke, or a function does not currently exist. and i bet a vast majority of people wouldn't like it, not without some kind of confirmation dialogue box popping up.

Hi, This may be well known by all but to quickly dump the messages in the Deleted Messages Folder just hit Alt plus the letter E key followed by the letter Y key twice.
This is not exactly what you wanted of course but it is slightly related. Mitch

Hello Judith,

I tried control + D and that only sends it to the deleted folder so you might be right. If I do find a keystroke that does what I want it to do, I will let you know.

Take care,

John

To the best of my knowledge, no such keystroke exists and I don't think that those who use a mouse can perform this function either. If you don't want it to hang around go to your deleted items folder, delete it and enter on yes when they ask you if you are sure. Judith

Hello,

Does anyone know the keystroke to delete an email from you inbox and keep it from being saved in the deleted items folder? I am using Outlook 2002 and XP Home.

Take care,

John
