Delayed speech response when typing

Hi, all.

I have a Windows XP machine here with Jaws 10, and I am increasingly
noticing a problem. I currently have Jaws set to speak every letter I type,
as a quality control sort of thing when preparing documents in Microsoft
Word.

Recently, I have noticed that when I type, there is a one half second, to
maybe even a one-second delay between my key stroke, and the spoken
character.

Can someone tell me why this happens, and what I might do to correct the
situation?

I'd say I have noticed it within the past month or so, and the problem is
getting worse.

Thanks!
