Hi Paul,

Keep an eagle eye open for laptops which although advertised
with Vista, come with an "XP Downgrade Option". Just make
sure it is an XP HOME downgrade.

George.

Subject: [jaws-uk] buying a laptop

Hi all,

For some time now, I have thought about maybe buying myself
a laptop and
installing JAWS onto it.

To be honest, the only real reason for doing this is so that
when I amaway
for long weekends, I can still catch up with E-mails so that
I don't have to
do it when I return home.
I don't usually have long holidays.

on my desktop, I currently have windows ME and am running
JAWS version 5.

If I was to purchase a laptop then it would presumably come
with XP. This
is not necessarily a problem but I would want to access my
E-mails and so
would I be able to do this through a laptop whilst away from
home.

Also I might wish to read magazines as sent by the RNIB
whilst on a train
journey so as not to cary bulky Braille items with me.

I guess the only other thing I might want to do is listen to
theradio
stations on-line although I gather this last point might be
rather dificult
and in some instances, impossible.

If anyone can give me any advice on this and also a rough
idea of prices
then that would be brilliant.

You can either reply to the list or directly to my E-mail
address if you
wish.

Thanks for reading.

Regards

Paul.
