if you buy a laptop these days chances are it will come with vista installed and jaws 5 won't work with it. you'd have to spacifically request xp if the shop will do that.

Hi all, For some time now, I have thought about maybe buying myself a laptop and installing JAWS onto it. To be honest, the only real reason for doing this is so that when I amawayfor long weekends, I can still catch up with E-mails so that I don't have todo it when I return home. I don't usually have long holidays. on my desktop, I currently have windows ME and am running JAWS version 5. If I was to purchase a laptop then it would presumably come with XP. This is not necessarily a problem but I would want to access my E-mails and so would I be able to do this through a laptop whilst away from home. Also I might wish to read magazines as sent by the RNIB whilst on a train journey so as not to cary bulky Braille items with me. I guess the only other thing I might want to do is listen to theradiostations on-line although I gather this last point might be rather dificultand in some instances, impossible. If anyone can give me any advice on this and also a rough idea of prices then that would be brilliant. You can either reply to the list or directly to my E-mail address if you wish. Thanks for reading.
