Thanks for replying Leonie what with Outlook Express and all my Emails gone on Desktop and the Trojan on laptop it has been very traumatic, I wish I could get to the bottom of where it came from as Kaspersky was set to do a full scan weekly it could have been in my computer for a week, thing is Kaspersky does have something called real time scanning I can find that in Belark Advisor, I realize I am changing the topic so back to your reply I was curious because I spoke to a Jaws user friend a couple of weeks ago, he comes on this list at times he has no sight now at all, he told me he was "experimenting with Lenox at home, he is a very experienced Jaws user works for a well known company which used to get the Best company of the year awards, however I forgot to ask him about why he was using what you said your partner uses. I know Lenox is not Microsoft that is all, I will try the site you mention when I can get to the bottom of this Trojan, it is a shock when all the Emails you have and the programmed goes, do you know how a Trojan is created, I wonder if anyone else has had one recently and if so the source. The only bug I ever had before was in 2003 my first computer and I had purchased a short course of lessons, by lesson 3 I was to be shown how to send an Email, the first couple of lessons Tutor was trying to understand why Jaws was doing odd things he had never seen, as for Kurzweilhe knew nothing of it. So on the big day we sign up to an Isp, a dial upwith Tiscali and down came a Welcome from the Postmaster and something called Blaster or Welchier or both, the Tutor had to use up another 2 sessions finding out how to kill it, it wouldnotbe quaranteened, it had lodged itself in something call Dll Library or similar, it was a big let down and later I asked the tutor could you not have prevented it, he said No, how you had to sign up first and that is how it arrived, I still think it could have prevented but if it was new Virus perhaps he was right, he kept saying it was Microsofts fault, well is the Trojan Microsofts fault? I have sp 3 Jaws9 I.E 7 but it got to me somehow. I wonder if it hid in Belark Advisor,it did say Belark Obfiscated but Belark often takes me onto a website where its products are not free but many free products do that. Linux is a popular operating system amongst technically minded people and there are several screen readers that will work on it. For example Orca. The code I mentioned was HTML. HTML, or HyperText Markup Language to give it it's full name, is the code used to create web pages. It's the behind the scenes information that, amongst other things, tells Jaws where there are headings, lists, images and so forth. If you're curious to know what it looks like, try the following steps: 1. Open your browser, for example Internet Explorer. 2. Go to a web page, it doesn't matter which one. 3. Go to the View menu in your browser and choose View Source. 4. Notepad will open with the HTML code for that web page showing. It won't make a great deal of sense, but you'll probably notice a lot of greater and less than signs. They're characteristic of HTML code. Don't worry if you change anything in the Notepad file that opens, you can't change anything on the web page by accident. It's just a copy of the code you're looking at, so when you're done, just close Notepad and don't worry about saving any changes. Additionally re the reference to Code I wish I understood more about this, George once said Jaws uses Unicode, but a tech Support for one of my items of software said because one or 2 of the Sappy voices went a bit mad, he said "it almost sounds as if a non- Askey key has got in I wrongly but it stands for something to do with a Code that I that stand for American something or other. If you are not around but George is maybe he can enlighten me since he would understand your references Regards Dorothy's not Unicode, or maybe initials for a Code.think I have ----- Original Message ----- From: "Léonie Watson" <tink@xxxxxxxxxx> To: <jaws-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, May 28, 2008 10:00 PM Subject: [jaws-uk] Re: Trouble with a Website George, Curious. My partner tried it on his Linux machine with the Epiphany browser and his XP64 machine with IE7 and reported the same page empty problem I'd experienced on my XP Home machine with IE6. As Phil said, the content didn't show up in the HTML code either. That's why I thought it was something to do with code generation, but heaven only knows what the catalyst for the content not appearing might be. I'm not using a screen reader, IE7 and Vista Ultimate, and the page visually came up OK for me, including the links working. As you say, most of the secondary pages are blank. This doesn't appear to be an accessibility issue, other than the general point of not being able to access any content, as it also happens on machines without Jaws on.
