Dorothy,

Linux is a different type of operating system from Windows, so Jaws
won't work on it. Linux is a popular operating system amongst technically
minded people and there are several screen readers that will work on it. For
example Orca.

The code I mentioned was HTML. HTML, or HyperText Markup Language to
give it it's full name, is the code used to create web pages. It's the
behind the scenes information that, amongst other things, tells Jaws where
there are headings, lists, images and so forth.

If you're curious to know what it looks like, try the following
steps:

1. Open your browser, for example Internet Explorer.
2. Go to a web page, it doesn't matter which one.
3. Go to the View menu in your browser and choose View Source.
4. Notepad will open with the HTML code for that web page showing.

It won't make a great deal of sense, but you'll probably notice a
lot of greater and less than signs. They're characteristic of HTML code.
Don't worry if you change anything in the Notepad file that opens, you can't
change anything on the web page by accident. It's just a copy of the code
you're looking at, so when you're done, just close Notepad and don't worry
about saving any changes.

Regards,
Léonie.

Hi Leonie, was just checking through Mail to see if read Jaws list arrives
on a desktop and laptop, so am deleting some, you mention your partner uses
Lenox and a Browser I do not know, and something about code in your reply,
does Jaws work well on his machine? Additionally re the reference to Code I
wish I understood more about this, George once said Jaws uses Unicode, but a
tech Support for one of my items of software said because one or 2 of the
Sappy voices went a bit mad, he said "it almost sounds as if a non- Askey
key has got in I wrongly but it stands for something to do with a Code
that I that stand for American something or other. If you are not around but
George is maybe he can enlighten me since he would understand your
references Regards Dorothy's not Unicode, or maybe initials for a
Code.think I have

George,

Curious. My partner tried it on his Linux machine with the Epiphany browser
and his XP64 machine with IE7 and reported the same page empty problem I'd
experienced on my XP Home machine with IE6.

As Phil said, the content didn't show up in the HTML code either.
That's why I thought it was something to do with code generation, but heaven
only knows what the catalyst for the content not appearing might be.

Léonie.

Hi Léonie,

I curious that you say, "it also happens on machines without Jaws on."

I'm not using a screen reader, IE7 and Vista Ultimate, and the page visually
came up OK for me, including the links working.

George.

Darran,

The website appears to be having some trouble generating content. As you
say, most of the secondary pages are blank. This doesn't appear to be an
accessibility issue, other than the general point of not being able to
access any content, as it also happens on machines without Jaws on.

Regards,
Léonie.
