Darren, Not only do you sound sarcastic, I suspect that you also wanted to sound that way too! The reason that I haven't personally read all that is on offer on the website is because I had been specifically told by a sighted, competent computer user friend that there was no mention of this on the website - if he's got it wrong so be it. It had also been the same answer that had apparently been circulating on the RNIB Techie list i.e. that NOD32 did not deal with the problem. I also had been told on this list previously that the software did not cope with this kind of malicious software. I think that these combined are probably reason enough not to go randomly reading the website. Having found the check box in the options, the whole purpose of raising the question again was to make sure that the members of the list were all properly informed one way or other. I suspect that you'll find that there are a few list members out there who will very much appreciate the news that NOD32 does indeed cope. Kindest of regards (without the slightest hint of sarcasm), Jamie -----Original Message----- From: jaws-uk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jaws-uk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Darran Ross Sent: 03 April 2007 23:32 To: jaws-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [jaws-uk] Re: NOD32 I don't want to sound sarcastic, but surely reading the info on offer at the nod32 website would answer your questions? Darran ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jamie Cuthbertson" <jamie.cuthbertson@xxxxxxxxxxxx> To: "Jaws-UK" <Jaws-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, April 03, 2007 10:23 PM Subject: [jaws-uk] NOD32 All, I know that I asked this question several weeks ago and received a number of definite answers but I am now beginning to doubt whether those answers are correct or not. I had asked whether or not NOD32 software did or did not deal with spyware and adware. The answer at the time appeared to be a definite "No". However, since then I have discovered, in the Options tab of every module of the software a check box that is entitled "Adware, spyware, Riskware". This to me would imply that the software does indeed handle this kind of risk contrary to my previous understanding. Indeed, on top of this, I tried a Google search for "NOD32" this evening and the first hit was "Antivirus Software - Eliminate Spyware and Adware with NOD32 ..." which again would indicate that the software does deal with these other threats. Can anyone out there give a definitive answer to this or are there different versions of NOD32 that are capable of doing different things? If no-one is sure, I'll try to get in touch with the technical support people. If I now have an accessible anti virus, anti spyware, anti adware software I'll be really chuffed. If it's just anti virus, it's still better, in my opinion, than Norton anyway but I'll need to find something to deal with the other threats. Any further thoughts to this would be appreciated.
