There is no such thing as "debian FHS".
Sorry, I used the term rather loosely.
I intended to mean the unique way Debian lays out files, especially in /etc and
/var. A good source of annoyance for people moving to Debian is /etc/bind,
/etc/exim4 and /etc/apache2.
To the OP: If you want to use RPM packages, use an RPM based distribution.
May not really solve the OP's problem. If all he wants to do is
install a single
RPM package, then installing an entire RPM based distro is an overkill. More
over, it would move him away from Debian!!
