[Ilugc] Why does Desktop/Notebook Manufacturers not recommend linux?

"out of the box" .. Hmm thats a term whose meaning depends on the
perspective. Why should one pass on the drivers?? Its there in the
open!!
You may tell Community is there, but the OEM Manufacturers wont look for
answers, they will only get it from you.
Err.. They do a lot more looking around for Source code of Free and
Open Source drivers then what you think is reality.
The main problem what i feel makes the vendors neglect GNU/Linux is,
1) Lack of drivers
Interesting "feeling". Lack of Drivers for what hardware?? Give me
some examples of hardware that *is* absolutely necessary for
functioning of a system with no "Free" Device Drivers for it.
2) GNU Ethics (for example, the Multimedia and other Entertainment issues)
If GNU/Linux can pass these, I am sure, OEM Manufacturers will look into
shipping GNU/Linux with Laptops and Dekstops.
I heard that Freespire plays MP3s "out of the box" but still it does
not pass the above??? Interesting!!
