I have seen ads of all Desktop/Notebook manufacturers from Dell to
Leneova, which only recommends XP inspite of it being more vulnerable
to attacks. Why can't they recommend GNU/Linux or BSD's which is more
stable and trouble free? Is that M$ is paying the manufacturers for
putting the caption
"XYZ recommends Windows XP"
That is one of the conditions of Microsoft's OEM licensing - that all
promotional material (advertisements, brochures etc.) should include
the statement "Fubar recommends Microsoft Windows XP". For this, OEMs
get Windows XP at very cheap rates - $20 or so - as opposed to retail
selling price of $400.
