How many of the so-called college students do innovative projects
otherwise ?? maybe a 10% ?! And, why people always mean final year
projects when it comes to the term "doing projects" ? what about the
earlier 7 semesters ? Do you think that the student is not technically
mature and capable of doing a projects in the earlier 7 semesters and
suddenly out of nowhere does one "innovative" project on the last
semester, when he is already placed in some XYZ company and has no
further interest in putting up a best performance in the last term ?
If your answer is yes, then he is not a Professional at all and his 4
years of professional educations attains no meaning.
The problem is not w.r.t the students; its w.r.t the lack of interest on the
teacher's(note: i am not calling them profs, as most of the instructors in pvt
colleges arent profs and are mere teachers who do not have any specialization
in any field) end. I had pathetic experience during my University days, most of
the instructors could not even understand a basic Object Recognition System;
worst of all the instructor who used to teach me Neural Network couldnt
understand the most fundamental of the networks that I had implemented. It is
right in here (the VOID) that i expect orgs like ours to chip in.
We ought to inculcate students about the technologies that are available and
how easily accessible they are. LUGgers are doing a great job w.r.t tis
objective. I am neither a proponent nor an opposer of FOSS, but i do understand
the potential merits that it can bring in to the society.
