Sorry that you got demotivated. LUG is always a place where people from
various backgrounds and ideologies come together, with a similar
interest rather than calling it single interest. We differ in our
principles, thoughts, ideologies, philosophies and the way we interpret
things. So, the chance of flame wars is too high and till now flame wars
has been an occasional entertainer to many of the luggies. Note
entertainer doesn't mean that this is for fun, it means we take in a
positive sense.
LUG is a common place where we share our views and when doing so,
clashes of interest and ideas do occur. It should be taken in the
healthy sense, and it has been so far. Otherwise ilugc wouldn't be as
active as it is now. :)
As far as your motivation is considered, I (though am not a guru or
expert in any sense, but just an active physical contributor to ilugc)
will tell you one single advice - Hear what 1000 people say, but do what
your heart says. Criticism will always haunt you at every part of your
life, you will hear things which will make you feel the world to be
ugly, but still if your heart says you can do something then just do it.
Don't think about the end result, don't get turned down by criticism and
initial failures. Just keep doing what you feel doing, provided it
doesn't affect others negatively. Its better to learn by making mistakes
than being all the way conscious of making none. Every successful man's
career starts by doing something which they themselves call as "mistake
I did in my life" and its nothing wrong in doing it.
so, if you are thinking of doing a project just do it and see. Don't
keep thinking whether it will come out well or not. Trying out is always
better than thinking out, especially with software ;)
