My humble request to you would be to not analyze things.
Instead try to motivate students thro' positive ideas. If possible
try to throw in some technical tips. I wish to quote this here.

The problem with we seniors is that we only demotivate since
we have seen failures. But young students need motivation.
If you can motivate them, do it. If not it is better to keep quiet.
Please don't misunderstand me. I don't mean to point my finger
at anyone.
I really appreciate Chandradeep's efforts to share his experiences. I
really respect his experience and his efforts to make it known to the
public. It takes a great deal of strength and courage to openly speak
of one's failings.
I would urge more of the seniors to narrate their experiences.
Doesn't matter if it is success or failure. It will help students.
They will figure out what is good for them automatically.
I disagree with Chandradeep as far as my experience goes.
No, I don't mean to say he is wrong, definitely not. Just that my
experience is different.
I recently thought that adding a resume feature to scp would be cool
but that patch was rejected. Since their project goals were different
from what I thought.
At the same time engineers should never reinvent the wheel. But
students should at least do it for some time. Otherwise how do you
learn?
So I wish to vehemently oppose the stance that these projects are all
already done. It is the most demotivating statement one can ever make.
Please please refrain from making such remarks.
If posibble, motivate young people. And help them. Do something real
and practical. If not at least don't demotivate.
This is my humble request to you. Consider me as your brother and
weigh my words. Please don't get offended.
All of these projects as far as I am concerned have lot of potential
and real life value.
Let me leave the students to decide.
