+1 for Thinkpads. I have an R51 (couldn't afford the T series - someday,
hopefully) and all I can say is good things about it. It survived some
very bumpy rides on a bus to and fro my hometown. R series is a bit
bulky, though. Don't expect to use it as a travel laptop - you have to
go for a T43p as Binand recommends.
