Forgot to mention that:
1. If your friend is coming to India with TWO laptops (one of his own)
- you will have to pay customs duty in India. Unless there is a person
in your friend's party without a laptop, you will end up paying 200%
or something duty (or a hefty bribe).
2. Laptops (and PCs) sold in the UK will have en-GB as the
default/only locale and more importantly, the UK keyboard layout. This
keyboard layout has significant differences from the US layout which
you see in India, though one can adjust to it easily. For example, the
@, #, | and ~ keys (all important to the Linux user) are NOT where you
expect to find them.
