TSCII, Unicode & TAB are all character encodings.
We are are talking about keyboard layouts.
The following are the standard keyboards used by Tamils:
1. Tamilnet99 keyboard. (

2. Anjal keyboard. ( There dont seem to exist an official Anjal keyboard
layout site. A layout of anjal keyboard can be found in this URL:

3. tamil typewriter keyboard (Similary here also there dont seem to exist an
official typewriter keyboard site. A layout of typewriter is found in this
site:

Please note that using any of the above keyboard, users should be able to
type in any standard encoding(ie. using tamilnet99 keyboard, user should be
able to type in either Unicode encoding or TSCII or TAB encodings depending
software used for typing).
I am not commenting about the encoding.
So here my question is about the keyboard layout used for typing. When the
Linux distros dont give support to the keyboards that are already used by
the tamils, we cannot Tamil users to adopt linux for their needs.
Imagine a linux distro coming with a new proprietory keyboard for english
instead of the QWERTY keyboard thats being used for english now. I feel its
the same suitation exists in tamil distros related to tamil support.
