Hi all,
I have problem compiling and installing a kernel for my machine. My
system configuration is
Acer Laptop with AMD Turion 64, 512 MB RAM.
I have Debian 3.1 installed. I compiled the version 2.16.17.10. It
compilied without any problems,
but when i gave make bzImage the image got created in arch/i386. I think
i386 is for intel machines.
Do I have to enable any options for AMD processors to get the final
image in the properly?
(I have tried enabling Processor type as AMD Opteron).
Still I tried booting the compiled image, but the system is not booting
up. I am getting only a blank screen.
I tried booting step by step from the grub prompt, there is no problem
while loading initrd image and kernel,
but when I give boot, the screen goes blank and i could not get any info.
I have compiled and installed the same version in my desktop(PIII
processor) and it is working fine.
Am I missing something here? Please give your advice.
regards,
siva.
