Paul,I can't import or sync anything from Outlook because I don't have it. As far as I know, I can't import or sync anything from Outlook Express. It would be nice if I could import my addresses from a coma-delimited format file, since I can export them that way from OE. Using that format would make a much more universal import.

Hi, Steve. I'm not sure what you mean by importing your addresses into the email program.Do you mean importing your addresses from outlook? If so, you can already dothat with the icon sync program. When I had to run the rescue disk on my laptop and put it back to factory specs, I didn't have any addresses in outlook 2003. I just installed icon sync and copied all of the addresses from my braille plus into outlook. When I first got my outlook, I did thesame in reverse, as it were by running icon sync and importing my addressesfrom outlook into my braille plus. When I compose an email using my braille plus, if I press select, I can pickfrom a list of addresses like the icon discussion list. Is this what you are thinking of? Thanks. -----Original Message----- From: icon-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:icon-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Steve Dresser Sent: Wednesday, June 04, 2008 5:51 PM To: icon-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [icon-discuss] Re: new features Paul,I would be more inclined to use my Braille+ for E-mail if there was a way toimport my address book into the E-mail program. I must admit that the interface is easy to use, but the thought of manually typing in so many addresses doesn't thrill me. As far as I'm concerned, the ability to download and play podcasts is the best feature of the machine. I don't do much with other RSS feeds, but maybe some day I will. For the first time in probably five years, I am looking forward to working for Kurzweil at ACB and having my braille plus to get my email. I can finally filter rather than having 800 messages all in the inbox as with my braille note MPower and cell phone. But, on the flight home, I know I will be sitting on the plane trying to get through the remainder of my mail. If I reply to any and who knows if I will, when I get home, I just want to upload my replies. I think the only thing I like better about using outlook for email on my computer is that I have my messages grouped by conversation. It makes it easier to get through those 500 messages per day much faster. It would be neat if the icon had such a grouping facility as well. I suppose I wouldn't care how I received my mail then, icon or computer<grin>. Heck. I don't even use Juice any more for my podcasts. I haven't in months. Just use my braille plus. And now that you can start a podcast where you left off, things are just great. -----Original Message----- From: icon-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:icon-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Steve Dresser Sent: Wednesday, June 04, 2008 12:42 PM To: icon-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [icon-discuss] Re: new features Paul,I see what you mean. I also assumed that we'd get a Send option separatedfrom receiving messages. Now that I understand what you want to do, I think a separate Send option on the menu is the way to go. It could connect for you then send. But what if you were not in wireless range? What if you still had mail to read and didn't want to send that message right now? If you did, it would be nice if the unit could connect, send the message then disconnect. But Once you place the message in the outbox, all you can do is to send and receive. Your way would work, but you'd have to be within wireless range. I see two ways around this: 1. When exiting mail, check to see if there are any messages in the outbox. If messages are greater than zero, ask if you want to send right now. If yes, the unit could connect and send. If no, just exit back to the applications menu. 2. When entering the email menu, if messages in the outbox are greater than zero, present a new menu item called send. If there are no messages in the outbox, the item would not be presented. Of course, you could present the menu choice anyway and if there were no messages in the outbox to be sent, pressing this would just give you the message that no messages were sent. Otherwise, if the outbox contained messages, it could say X number of messages have been sent. I tend to only use my icon for mail when I am traveling. I don't mind Sending and receiving when I am away from home, but I don't want to come home having to send messages I composed on the plane only to get 100 more. If I reply to any of these, then I have to send and receive more.I would just like to be able to send whatever is in my outbox whether oneor ten messages without getting anything new. When I heard about this new feature, I was excited because I hoped it wasa send, not send immediately. -----Original Message----- From: icon-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:icon-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Steve Dresser Sent: Wednesday, June 04, 2008 8:37 AM To: icon-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [icon-discuss] Re: new features Paul,The Send Immediately option could check for a connection, and if none wasfound, bring up the Network Manager. I was pretty excited about the new send feature until I realized it was only a send immediately. This means that you have to stay connected all the time you are reading your email. I was hoping there would be a new oqtion which would say "send" just below the "send and receive" option. If you want to use this new feature and you get a lot of email, you couldbe connected wirelessly for hours just so you could send without receiving amy more mail.
