Well, I was trying to figure out how to turn up the volume on my microphone and discovered a way to hear my microphone without using the audio repeater.

I opened the context menu on my volume control in the system tray and chose recording devices.
Then highlighted my microphone and clicked the properties button.
Then switched to the "listen" tab.
And I clicked the "Listen to this device" checkbox.
Then with the audio repeater closed I can still hear my mic.

I finally got my mic volume louder as well, though I wish there was a slider I could use to fine tune the volume for it. I tested and recording in Audacity captures both my mic and other sounds on my computer.

Thanks so much Carlos!
I think I'm pretty much setup.

Any tips about recording multiple parts and then combining them one after another?
