It is a great book for an introduction to the basics behind programming in the
BeOS. It is only up to date as of R4.5 though, make sure you read the BeBook
that comes with R5 when you run into problems. For the most part tho, it will
get you along nicely.

I was under the impression that this was a good book when it was released.
However, I think there were some changes with the API since its publication.
It should be a reader-friendly introduction to programming for BeOS, but I
don't think it will bring you up to speed with the OS as it is now.
