If you 
- have a non-English preferred language set
- choose to not translate app names in Tracker/Deskbar
- run Deskbar with the app list in expanded mode
you will see a mix of translated and untranslated names.

Most developer discussions happen in haiku-development AFAIK, but some do 
happen on the commits list. We try to keep it short and about the commits at 
hand, but we're not always successful. Sometimes design decisions fall 
through the cracks and don't get communication elsewhere.
