I think this sounds like a good idea.

On a similar note I am interested in getting more ACPI-related things
working (hardware buttons for one, and sleep in the long term.) Is
there an area I could start working or looking at bugs that you aren't
already working on? I'll probably need to do a lot of research first,
so if you or anyone else has any pointers beyond putting "ACPI" in
Google, let me know.
