As of now. The r1a4 anyboot image is 804MiB, with about 20MiB free. So,
if we aimed for CD size, then some programs/optional packages would need
to be trimmed out.
Can we strip some third party apps to remove debug information? Or is
this a bad idea? Or can we put more stuff into ZIPs?

Good point. Back in hrev44240, I disabled the stripping of debug symbols
from the optional packages[1] That turned out to be stripping the
wpa_supplicant binary and breaking it.

Maybe InstallOptionalHaikuImagePackage could be extended to support a new
optional parameter stripDebugSymbols, which defaults to true. To control
that, the HAIKU_STRIP_DEBUG_FROM_OPTIONAL_PACKAGES = 1 ; could be
re-added. Then for wpa_supplicant, stripDebugSymbols would be set to
false.
This was done in hrev44648 and the commits associated with its push.
Now, a GCC 2 Hybrid anyboot image is 743MiB -- still a ways off from
fitting on a CD.

Hm, today's nightly hrevr1alpha4-44618 anyboot is still sitting at 804
MB, has the build machine not been adjusted yet perhaps?
By the way, the R1/A3 anyboot weighed in at 694 MB.
