I would propose that the Coding Sprint
before BeGeistert focusses on bug fixes, and that we release Alpha 3 at
BeGeistert.

Eh, one of the more common regrets(for lack of a better word) about
R1/A2 was that
it had a rushed feeling and not enough attention was given to QA. So,
I'm not convinced
that trying to fit the whole release cycle in 2 weeks (now till BG023)
would be an improvement.

The only reasons that I think it would be doable is simply that a) Haiku is in quite good shape already with respect to the last Alpha (except for the mentioned Intel driver regression). And that b) a full week of Coding Sprint can be quite effective when it's used solely for bug hunting. I am not saying we should rush a package manager implementation in that week, or any other new feature.

Of course while fixing one bug, one can still introduce regressions, so perhaps you are right...

And at the same time, I am probably ignorant of the non-development effort that goes into a release. For that work, two weeks from now may indeed be rushed.
