Hi Humdinger,

Am 02.02.2022 um 16:29 schrieb Humdinger (humdingerb):

However, the Media prefs do show the MediaPlayer audio output as 22.0 kHz float.
"media_client play" shows 22.0 KHz 16bit for the same file.
Also, if that setting worked as described (or at all...) one would expect that
someone reported
an issue with playing/recording "non-format conforming" audio. Those "Refuse
in/out format
changes" is the default setting after all.

Should I open a ticket for that or am I doing/understanding something wrong?

AFAIU, the mixer keeps a constant connection to the audio card. And I would assume that only this connection is influenced by this setting.

Typically, all audio output goes through the system mixer.

You should be able to connect the MediaPlayer to the sound card directly using Cortex, bypassing the mixer to see, if this setting has any effect or not (might be sound card dependent, too, ie. HDA vs. whatever its predecessor was called).

Maybe our HDA driver supports more than one source, then you could check that directly, too, without disconnecting the system mixer first.

Bye,
   Axel.
