Ah, thanks for the tip. It will definitely enhance the searching experience.

More Later,
Dani

The quotes make the search for exactly what you typed. If you did not
include the quotes, the search would find the words time and signature by
themselves also.

Hi, Bill.
What do the quotes around the search term do?

Thanks,
Dani

Hi,

See excerpt below from a post about time signatures I sent to our list on
March 29, 2011. I encourage all members to search the list archives for
quick answers. It dates back to 2005 and it is an excellent resource you
can use to get answers especially when you are in a big hurry. Find it at:

//www.freelists.org/archive/goodfeel

To search for posts with the term "time signature", for example, move to the
search box and enter:

"time signature",

Using the quotation marks.

Here's that mini tutorial on changing time signatures in Lime. One added
note: it is always a good idea to press the letter b to learn your current
bar and beat position before inserting measures and time signatures into
Lime. Lime has a disconcerting way of positioning you in a place you
sometimes would not expect. For example, let's say you insert 3 measures at
bar 4. After you insert the measures, you would expect to still be
positioned at the start of bar 4. But, no, you are positioned at the start
of bar 7. Just one more thing to fix in Lime.

Changing Time Signatures

It is not enough in lime simply to change the Time Signature. You must
follow these steps:

Step 1: insert measures of the new Time Signature

Move to the place where you want to insert the measure or measures with a
different time signature.

Press CONTROL+I to open the Insert measures dialog.

Enter the number of measures you want to insert and press tab to move to
each field in this dialog.

Enter the new number of beats per measure and the beat value indicator for
the new time signature.

Be careful to insert these measures for all parts unless there is some
special situation.

Also, be careful to decide whether to insert the measures before the current
note or at the end of the current system.

Finally, tab to OK button and press space to accept.

Step 2: Enter the new Time Signature

You must now move to the first beat of the first measure of the new Time
Signature and press CONTROL+T to open Lime's Time Signature dialog.

Enter the beats per measure and beat value indicator for the Time Signature.
Tab to OK and press space.

Step 3: Enter the original Time Signature after the inserted measures:

Move to the first beat of the measure after the inserted bars.

Press CONTROL+T and enter the original Time Signature.

Bill

I can't say whether or not you'd have to delete measures. Since you are
pressed for time, I made you a Lime file that has 36 measures of 3/4 time
followed by 30 measures of 4/4 and I attached it. You should be able to
delete measures more easily than inserting them. Be careful and make some
backups in case you mess something up.

If this doesn't help then send me your file with specific instructions about
where you want stuff.

For the sake of time (no pun intended), I cannot go through with my original
planning due to this being an assignment for tomorrow, and I've yet to
complete another 30 measures.

However, let me see if I understand...

I must delete the measure following the end of the note of the first time
signature.

I'll have to review this thread once more.
