Of all the current suggestions I think the following could bear fruit:
SMPL - Sound and Music Plugin Layer
AXIS - Audio eXtension Interface System
BUMP - Better Universal Music Plugins
GAP - Generalized Audio Plugins
and I'll add to the fray:
MUSIC - MUSIC Universal Sound Interconnect
STUDIO - Sound Technology Universal I/O
MTR - Musical Technology R?? (read: meter)
I think these are fun, but not necessarily best. 2 or three letter acronyms
are usually easier.
Think of words that relate to this field:
wire
plug
dac
sequence
arrange
chord
tempo
Find acronyms that can be read as one of those. Or find the right
combination of short sharp words to compete with Virtual Studio Technology,
which really is a pretty damned good acronym.
