I used to look through the archived caches when you could still see
them on gc.com (incidentally, they've promised to bring back that
feature but its still missing). I managed to find one that had been
archived for 2 years. I logged the find and requested to adopt it. Now
I own a cache that was placed over 2 years before I started geocaching!
As for the notes on disabled caches... I really wish you could delete
them after the cache was fixed. They clutter the page a bunch. I
understand why you can't, but it's really annoying.
Also, I've often let caches be disabled for a few months before I get
around to fixing them. For example, I have most of my hides back in
Ohio, but I don't get back there until the holidays or Summer, so I
just keep them disabled. But I've always replaced them. Again, I see
why Glenn is doing this, but I guess I'm saying there are always
exceptions. I always respond to reviews notes, but it is annoying to
get what looks like an automated message asking me to fix the cache or
archive it when I've already explained that I'll fix it next month
when I'm back in town. Ho hum. Maybe we need more reviewers : /
