I have done that, only to have a semi irate cache owner get pissy with me.
BUT on the other hand I have been graciously thanked for doing so. I would
suggest asking the cache owner before pulling the log.

Why not just remove the afflicted log and leave the new dryer one. And make
note of it.
Do people really save logs? and soaking wet ones at that?
