a simpler way that doesn't impart as much node traffic is to generate
two lists (the aim points as shown above) and then a lists of all
configured blocks (such as from a reformatted iccprt listing)

if you sort both files, you can then use the unix utility 'comm' to
print out the lines that are in one file and not the other, i.e. the
ones in the aim listing and not the iccprt one
