Will 10.5 deal with spread sheets? My 10.4 consistently crashed when I
tried to convert from .xls files.

My own trick for the icons is to rename the original DBT 10.4 icon, by right clicking on the desktop Icon, and selecting Rename. I then call it something like "DBT Old". When you then install 10.5 (into a separate folder) it will create a new icon. You can then rename this to say, "DBT New".
Your Templates for 10.4 may well be still there, since Add/Remove programs does not actually delete the c:\duxbury folder.
As regards embosser setup parameters, I more than suspect that we'll have to do some fine tuning with many of the embossers in the list. The general parameters have been acquired from various sources such as manufacturer's manuals, and are their theoretical maximums and minimums.
I don't believe you should have a problem opening 10.5 files in 10.4. I certainly didn't find any problems myself during the beta cycle.
Failure to open Word files is a worry, though we will need more specific information such as the Version of Word actually in use, plus the version of Word that it's files are saved as. You can for example, set up Word 2003 to save it's files by default in an older format.
As regards saving embosser information with 10.5 files, I hope in the longer term, when you get to know it, you will appreciate that if files get moved from one system to another, the document parameters are retained. In 10.4 or earlier, if say your Global Embosser setup was for 40 cells and 27 lines, and I opened one of your files where my settings were say 42 and 28, the document would be reformatted. You can still override any settings though.
And finally tables. Hands up. It didn't make it in this version. It's another one of these highly desired features which just simply could not be implemented in the timeframe. There have been many sweeping changes in 10.5, and personally speaking, I'd like to see things settle down while the remaining gremlins are exorcised.
