If you want my advice, for what it is worth, don't think so much about
brand names when purchasing a computer keyboard.  Think more about how
it feels when you try typing on the keys.

As for your scanner and note taker, to quote an old hackneyed
expression, "if they are still working well and if they aren't broken,
then don't fix them", especially if money is tight.
