I think if you spend time with it and use it with a control surface, then
it
is perfectly possible.

Omnisphere doesn't have a playable demo because it's library is nearly 50
gb
in size.
It's worth every penny if that helps.

I've tried Vanguard, but wasn't impressed with it except for the
trancegate presets. Most of the other sounds had a rough texture to them
(that's really the only way I can describe it) and don't sound right with
the trailing reverb. I hadn't heard of Sylenth1 until reading about it on
this list, and have been playing with the demo for awhile. Compared to
Vanguard, I think this one sounds amazing. As for Omnisphere, I've heard
some of the demos for it, but am weary of purchasing it because there's
no
playable demo as far as I know. Whenever possible, I like to try before I
buy.
As for programming VST synths, how would you go about layering a sound,
or even programming a brand new one? I've always used just the presets,
but
the idea of creating your own sounds has fascinated me.
