You are joking, of course. Think about it. The number of log hauls in the
19th century would have been staggering and rail was the prime way of moving
logs in those day where rivers and lakes or horses were not handy or
practical. I doubt if anyone knows when the first log train operated or
where it operated. If you want to take on that task go right ahead.

So, what's wrong with tracing the 19th century antecedents of unit trains if
that's a subject that interests people here and it might go on indefinitely?
