Hi Jeff,
I will pass that info along, thank you. Do you also have the same drawings for
the G1 and G2?

One question I forgot to ask, did any of the G5's have the Elesco Feed water
heater, I know a couple (1201) had the Worthington "Coffin" style and 1278
has an Elesco type but I have not seen a shot of 1278 or any other G5 with
and Elesco in service (was it added at steamtown??) The vast majority seem to
have had no feedwater heater at all. The more I can find out, the more
options we could possibly get.
All G5âs had feed water heaters. No modern locomotive was built without
one because the fuel efficiency and performance gains were hard to ignore.
G5a 1200-1201 â" Worthington feed water heater
G5b/c 1202-1272 â" Elesco exhaust steam injectors
G5d 1273-1301 â" Elesco feed water heaters
The G5âs were all dimensionally similar. The G5c/dâs tender had a
rounded upper valence on the tank like the F1a Jubilees while the G5a/b did
not.
The CPHAâs Library has several drawings for the G5c/dâs. All the
significant ones that youâd need to build a model â" erecting (side and
cross elevations), tender, tender truck, stencil and more. Most of the G5
collection is not scanned but a manufactureâs project would certainly bump
the pile to the front of the queue. Your manufacture is welcome to contact
us for drawings or help with finding experts.
