I was looking through my Precision Scale Co. HO Steam Locomotives
Catalog
and saw, on page 96, that PSC produces 2 different versions of Elesco
exhaust steam injection systems - type SF and type T. What did SF and T
stand for, and which did CP have on its engines?
PSC also produces 3 different versions of Elesco feedwater heaters and
many
versions of Worthington feedwater heaters. Which of these did CP use - for
those of you who have access to the PSC catalog? One of the differences
seems to be that the Elesco heater could be slightly inset into the top of
the smokebox, or else mounted above it completely.

<To call the G5b�s "without super heater" isn�t correct. They had an Elesco
exhaust steam heater. If you look at the fireman�s side of the engine there
was a large diameter pipe that followed along the running board. Exhaust
steam was routed into the pipe which pre-heated the water coming in. It
worked the same as the Worthington steam injector but it wasn�t as large and
boxy.
