Congratulations on this new position. It's a big boost whenever
Constellations can be incorporated into an academic setting.
I have worked with groups of people connected through the internet many
times. I am sure there are different ways to make the experience worthwhile.
Michael Reddy is working with a group in Germany developing on on-line tool
specifically for web-based group Constellations. He could tell you whether
it's available for use in your class.
For myself, I use the simplest interface and do not rely on objects or
computer images. That's my personal preference, as I find objects distract
my awareness from the field. For others, objects help focus their awareness.
There's not a single answer that fits everyone.
With my groups, we use a basic heart meditation. Everyone closes their eyes,
sits still and puts their attention and intention on the question at hand.
After about a minute, we come back to ordinary awareness and go around the
circle sharing what we noticed. The field forms immediately and the
participants are able to "tune in." You could start with a personal issue
offered by one of the students or choose some universal theme. The process
is rich and works every time.
You didn't ask, but I would avoid framing the theoretical portion of the
teaching too tightly around the text of Hellinger's Love's Hidden Symmetry.
Introducing the work by referencing systemic conscience, Hellinger's notions
of guilt and innocence and the Orders of Love, etc. is not accessible to
most students, especially in such a short unit. I am sure you have a wealth
of ways of sharing the work using alternative language. My suggestion is to
go with that.

Thanks folks - just to clarify.
This is just one unit - not attempting a whole lot more. We do have one
'meet' by video hookup - the person who is talking - their video shows up on
everyone's screen. Thats the one 4-hour class. The rest is their homework,
an essay, a concept map on the subject, and an online (message board)
discussion they have with each other over a period of 2 or 3 weeks, based on
some topics of conversation I provide.
Yes, I agree, its crazy to think of presenting theory without a significant
experiential component. Thats what I am trying to nut out. How to do that
with a dozen people, each sitting in a different part of the country (and
the world) on their individual computer, necessarily glued to the screen.
Its a challenge!
