My interest in collaborative law is simply to find a way to stop the
destruction of litigated divorce. It has been my experience that the
process of traditional divorce, set as it has been in the adversarial
posture, can obliterate an already vulnerable relationship. Children, as
well as "innocent" spouses, often end up bearing the financial and emotional
cost of this damage. That is an inexcusable, if unintended, result of our
particular legal system. Altering the way people divorce is a much-needed
repair of the system.
