It does need more support than SMF so you will need that. Especially if you start adding in extended features.

However, SMF offers an all-in-one package which is fairly straight-forward and easy to use.

What's the standard for software forums?
   1) Announcement
   2) User files
   3) Suggestions
   4) Support
   5) Other software
Would that be good enough? (anyone can join this discussion!)

If you are going to create another Forum for anything concerning fractals, then that is a start. Of course you will need a lot more in the way of sub-directories to break down the above. Plus setting up the Rules/Guidelines of how postings and users are to be handled.

But if this will be a Forum strictly for Chaoscope discussions, with only minimal references to other fractal rendering applications, then you should not need too much more than the above break-down.

Sincerely,
