Hi Paul, Christian, Matthew, Randomteady, hello all,

Paul is right, the list is very inactive because the new version isn't out yet. In any case we'll move to a forum when 0.4 is released. I think people are much more comfortable with exchanging forum posts rather than emails. It's a bit less intrusive.

My apologies to all users who have been waiting for 0.4. Being a perfectionist and an unrepentant procrastinator isn't the most productive of combinations. Believe it or not I have been working on the code very recently. Specifically transferring the colour computations from the rendering "engine" to the attractor "engine". This will make easier to assign gradients, disable them and more importantly it will allow me to implement new attractor specific colouring methods much more easily, i.e. "flame" colouring for IFS. This task is almost finished, it took quite a while because I had already implemented multithreading and caching (d'oh!). Speaking of what's been done so far, here's a little reminder:

NEW FEATURES

- New Saturation parameter for all modes
- Anti-Alias optional for all modes
- Opacity optional for Solid Mode
- Quark equation was added
- Caching of rendered attractors in RAM
- Background color for Light and Plasma modes
- Multithreading (two threads for render)
- Perspective (broken!)

TO DO

- Supersampling
- Color perspective (haze)
- Color editor
- Gradient editor/browser
- Timed rendering
- Non-stop rendering (interrupted with ESC key)
- Rendering stopped when specific amount of frustum hits is reached
- Light editor, interface to position lights in Solid mode
- Export attractor to ASCII
- Attractor modifiers (attractor parameters common to all equations)

TO MAYBE DO

- Undo
- More equations
- Basic animation module
- Better shadows in Solid mode

FIXES

- Setting Preview Iterations below 50000 was causing Light and Plasma to crash
- Gradient name wasn't cleared when gradient was randomized or reversed
- Closing a project while animating would crash the program
- View wasn't cleared when no attractor found on fast computers

MISCELLANEOUS

- Sliders thumb is resized properly when property is selected
- Recent files list in File menu

Regards,

Nicolas Desprez
