I will check the website for details this weekend. We have copies of all of the books he needs so I will just send them to: Lisa Friendly The Benentech Initiative 480 S. California Avenue Suite 201 Palo Alto, CA 94306-1609 Is that correct? Once they've been scanned I would be happy to read through them and look for errors. Seems the least I can do. I'm thinking UPS might be a good way to send them. And they must have some way for me to pre-pay for return shipping. Any suggestions? -Ron Ingram- -----Original Message----- From: Grandma Cindy [mailto:popularplace@xxxxxxxxx] Sent: Wednesday, September 05, 2007 8:21 PM To: bookshare-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [bookshare-discuss] Re: wishlist Basically, yes. Although you don't absolutely need the print copy, it's helpful. Often, though, you can tell from the context that a word is wrong and you can fix it--or that a word is missing in a sentence and you can fill it in. There is a minimum number of things to do--check that all the pages are there, remove headers, do a spell check--but many of us read the books and make corrections, since some things that are spelled correctly are just incorrect in the context, like die for the. If you send Lisa Friendly the titles and authors, or editions, of the books your son needs, she can perhaps and hopefully get them scanned quickly and you can download them for validation and, while you or your son is validating, he can be reading them for class, too. I think on the volunteer home page is a volunteer manual and one section explains about validating.
