If you go into msconfig, you can see whether Bookport Launcher is set to start when Windows does. If not, just check the box. This might solve your problem.

Well, when I run the program by itself it can tell there's a new update of the Transfer software, and if I let it then it downloads and installs the new software, so I'm pretty sure it's connected okay as far as firewalls are concerned. Having said that, I know *nothing* about how firewalls work or how to change the settings, or even what to look for to make sure the settings are corect ... so that's something to bear in mind as well.

As for the BOokport Launcher being in the startup menu, it's not in the immediate startup menu, but if you go into Programs and type B several times you eventually come to Book Wizard and the Bookport Transfer submenus.

First, make sure your firewall is set to allow the transfer program to access the net. If not it will not work properly because I think it goes to the net by default to check for updates. When this happened to me I lost speech for a minute and forgot if the transfer program started or not. Second make sure bookport launcher is in your startup menu, seems like it would have to be if you did an install but who knows.
Yesterday I connected the unit and the transfer program didn't start automatically but when I started it manually things worked fine. Today it started like it should.
