You will use a lot of battery power if you do it that way... And you are correct, if you have a lot of books to transfer, it will indeed take a very long time.

All you have to do is plug in your bp, then go to "my computer" and select its drive letter like any other. Navigate to the folder you want to copy and copy it to a known location on your laptop hd, then reformat the card and copy it back. Do the same to any other folders you want saved. You can do other things on the laptop while it is copying.Have a great day, Alex----- Original Message ----- From: "constantine (on laptop)" <tcwood12@xxxxxxx To: bookport@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Date sent: Thu, 07 Feb 2008 19:42:44 -0600 Subject: [bookport] Re: having a bit of a problemWill that work? I mean, have you tried it- does the bookport readthe filesok and everything?I'd hate to have to do this all manually, because, well, thatwould takedays with the number of books I have on this unit.thankscontact details:email: tcwood12@xxxxxxx msn: the_conman283@xxxxxxxxxxx skype: the_conman283system details: Hp pavillion dv5220CA notebook pc AMD Tourin 64 2.0 GHZ, 1024 mb DDR ram, Fujitsu 100 gb 4500 RPMHDD----- Original Message ----- From: "Alex Hall" <mehgcap@xxxxxxx To: <bookport@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Thursday, February 07, 2008 7:36 PM Subject: [bookport] Re: having a bit of a problemYou can always connect your bp to your laptop and copyeverything, including hidden files, onto your laptop's hard drive. You canthenreformat your card in the bp, reconnect the bp to your laptop, and copythe card backup back onto the card that way. hth.Have a great day, Alex----- Original Message ----- From: "constantine (on laptop)" <tcwood12@xxxxxxx To: bookport@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Date sent: Thu, 07 Feb 2008 19:19:38 -0600 Subject: [bookport] having a bit of a problemHi, allWell, heres my problem. I was reading a book a while back andthe volume kind of went softer, this is a text file, btw. So Ihit stop,(number 2), and nothing happens. I hit 2+b, and so I got fscard fail. Iwent to play the file again, or make doubletalk speak again Imean, but itsaid there were no files. What I did then was removed thebatteries, putthem back in. it worked just beautifully, I reset my settings, went backto my reading, (of course it left off at the place at which I'dstartedreading to begin with), so I moved to where it gave me issues, startedreading again. so we get to about 10 more minutes into it, andI hearbuffer overflow, moving on. Buffer overflow, moving on. Whatexactlydoes this mean? What should I do? I don't want to have to formatthe flashcard because i have books on it that I don't have on my laptopanymore, mainly due to a reformat of the hard drive. Can I somehow backthese up,anyway? This has been doing it off and on. I'm not sure what Idid, butit worked fine for a while, but its recently started again, anditssomewhat frustrating. I've been using my ipod to readaudiobooks, butthis just goes to show how great the bookport is, I can't livewithout it.If I can back up files, which extention should I look for? (eachfile hasthese underline, for example, underline db or some such. Can Ijustdelete the underline from a certain file so I can retransfer it?Or isthere another way to fix this issue? I'm sort of hard put totransferthose html books back to the unit, I find it tedius to go intointernetexplorer for each file, hit applications, and send to book port.I knowit can be done from book port transfer, but for some reason somehtmlfiles look, well, very wierd on the unit, I get the <p> and </P>taggs,which, well, I can't read with those, heh, I can't concentrateon thebook. Sending from internet explorer seemed to fix this issue.I'm notsaying its annoying, it just involves a bit more concentrationand time, which I guess I have, that is, if I can back up this here flashcard atall (that's about hmmm, I can't even count, about 400 mb of textfiles),no idea how many files, perhaps 1000? 2000? quite a few,anyway...why do Ieven have so many when you can only read one book at a time? noidea!guess they just built up over the years...<grin>.thanks, Have a good day from Tyler C.
