Hmm, I'll have to try that. well, I'll go grab my unit now, copy the root books dir, and reformat, then let you all know what happened. if it works? well, alex, you'll get a hug, heh, because I thought I was going to have to spend hours and hours gettting these files put back on the unit.

I don't even bother with the transfer software. Once it has transfered files once, I just use the normal copying and such to move everything around. As long as you keep the exact file names intact and make sure everything is in the folders the software put it in, you are fine. Copying and pasting should be no problem. I have done a lot with files on my braillenote, even renameing some, but as long as I put the names back the bp acted like nothing had happened.Have a great day, Alex----- Original Message ----- From: "Yerba Bruja" <yerbabruja@xxxxxxxx To: <bookport@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Date sent: Thu, 7 Feb 2008 21:50:12 -0500 Subject: [bookport] Re: having a bit of a problemI'm not sure that it can be that simple, for though you can movethe entirebookport folders to your hard drive without any problems, eachtime youtransfer something to the bookport, the transfer software alsoloads ontothe bookport indexing files and other files that the foldersalready have.I don't know if the transfer software will simply acknowledgingthe existingbookport files that were transferred with the books originally.Marta ----- Original Message ----- From: "constantine (on laptop)" <tcwood12@xxxxxxx To: <bookport@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Thursday, February 07, 2008 8:39 PM Subject: [bookport] Re: having a bit of a problemOw, that is going to take a long, long time...I can't just movethe booksfolder to my hard drive, format the card, then transfer thebooks folderback onto the root of book port?thankscontact details:email: tcwood12@xxxxxxx msn: the_conman283@xxxxxxxxxxx skype: the_conman283system details: Hp pavillion dv5220CA notebook pc AMD Tourin 64 2.0 GHZ, 1024 mb DDR ram, Fujitsu 100 gb 4500 RPMHDD----- Original Message ----- From: "Yerba Bruja" <yerbabruja@xxxxxxxx To: <bookport@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Thursday, February 07, 2008 8:37 PM Subject: [bookport] Re: having a bit of a problemWhat I would suggest is that if your computer is back in order, that youtransfer the books back to the computer, and either reformatyour cardand retransfer, or try transferring them to a new card.Unfortunately, you'll have to transfer the books back to thecomputermanually. That is, you'll have to look for the bookport rootdirectorythrough my computer or Windows Explorer, which will identify itas usbmass storage device drive e or f etc. depending on how manymore drivesyou have on your machine. Then you'll have to go into the folders, if you set any up, andlook forthe files that you transferred. The files that you're lookingfor arethose that only have the txt extensions, if that's how youformatted allthe books you transferred. Ignore the files that have ixextensions orother extensions that you do not recognize. From here you caneitherremove each file with a control X and transfer them to thedesired folderon your computer, using a control V, or you can open the file, and thenuse the save as command to save it to the folder you want.Marta ----- Original Message ----- From: "constantine (on laptop)" <tcwood12@xxxxxxx To: <bookport@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Thursday, February 07, 2008 8:19 PM Subject: [bookport] having a bit of a problemHi, allWell, heres my problem. I was reading a book a while back andthe volumekind of went softer, this is a text file, btw. So I hit stop,(number 2),and nothing happens. I hit 2+b, and so I got fs card fail. Iwent to playthe file again, or make doubletalk speak again I mean, but itsaid therewere no files. What I did then was removed the batteries, putthem backin. it worked just beautifully, I reset my settings, went backto myreading, (of course it left off at the place at which I'dstarted readingto begin with), so I moved to where it gave me issues, startedreadingagain. so we get to about 10 more minutes into it, and I hearbufferoverflow, moving on. Buffer overflow, moving on. What exactlydoes thismean? What should I do? I don't want to have to format the flashcardbecause i have books on it that I don't have on my laptopanymore, mainlydue to a reformat of the hard drive. Can I somehow back theseup, anyway? This has been doing it off and on. I'm not sure what I did, butit workedfine for a while, but its recently started again, and itssomewhatfrustrating. I've been using my ipod to read audiobooks, butthis justgoes to show how great the bookport is, I can't live without it.If I canback up files, which extention should I look for? (each file hastheseunderline, for example, underline db or some such. Can I justdelete theunderline from a certain file so I can retransfer it? Or isthere anotherway to fix this issue? I'm sort of hard put to transfer thosehtml booksback to the unit, I find it tedius to go into internet explorerfor eachfile, hit applications, and send to book port. I know it can bedone frombook port transfer, but for some reason some html files look, well, verywierd on the unit, I get the <p> and </P> taggs, which, well, Ican'tread with those, heh, I can't concentrate on the book. Sendingfrominternet explorer seemed to fix this issue. I'm not saying itsannoying,it just involves a bit more concentration and time, which Iguess I have, that is, if I can back up this here flash card at all (that'sabout hmmm,I can't even count, about 400 mb of text files), no idea howmany files, perhaps 1000? 2000? quite a few, anyway...why do I even have somany whenyou can only read one book at a time? no idea! guess they justbuilt upover the years...<grin>.thanks, Have a good day from Tyler C.
