Yes, for doing what it's there to do, it's great. This is not a unit that's 
intended or designed for top-quality recordings. Don't be upset when a horse 
isn't a cow. If you really need high quality recording functionality, buy a 
high quality digital recorder that's designed to do only that.

Don't forget, its main purpose is to read or listen to audio material.  The
recording feature isn't the most important thing to me.  It is fine for just
getting a piece of information quickly until I can transfer it by some other
means either into braille, or on the computer.  It might make the cost
higher too.  You want to make it as affordable as possible.
