I'm having some of the same feelings about the Democratic Party that you are but probably for different reasons. I am having trouble warming up to the issues of this election season especially in California and I feel that the most vulnerable citizens are being left behind when it comes to benefits for people on fixed incomes such as welfare and Social Security beneficiaries. I am overwhelmed by the emails that I'm overloaded about the defunding of Planned Parenthood and gun control. While Planned Parenthood provides a valuable service and there are issues with gun violence I think that there may be a bit of over reaction. While added background checks won't hurt it isn't going to stop gang activity as they aren't buying guns at gun shows. I still am having difficulty allowing my content of salt or sugar to be controlled by the food police and I am not supporting bans on plastic bags that we will have on the ballot in California. I am still not supporting automatic minimum wage increases until there is a return of the benefits that SSI and welfare beneficiaries gave up to Arnold when he was governor. In California when we had a perfect opportunity to introduce initiatives to repeal the "top two" or open primary and term limits the Democratic Party sat on their ass regarding these issues. However, I still have the entrepreneurial instinct and am not as antibusiness as many people are.

You're certainly correct. But since they are commercial advertising, every
potential candidate ought to have the same opportunity for exposure.
Actually, if you think about it, the Democratic Party isn't even the same
party it once was which is one reason I can't identify with it.

well as an active democrat when I got it I deleted without signing as I
believe that what is being offered under the guise of a debate is a
disgraceful farce and doesn't do anything to help anybody decide who they
are supporting. These are orchestrated circuses making money for the media
outlets and sponsors so until they go back to real campaigning and real
journalism the debates are a joke.

This doesn't mean I'm supporting the Democratic ticket. It means that I
think they need more and broader debates.

SAMPLE EMAIL FOR YOUR FRIENDS:

I just signed the following petition from Robert Reich and Democracy for
America telling the DNC to schedule additional debates. Please sign it as
well -- we need to spread the word ASAP!

-----

Hi --

Saturday night's Democratic presidential primary debate was striking. It was
all about substance and logic -- in sharp contrast to Republican debates
that have been all name-calling and posturing.

It was the kind of debate that could have really gotten voters excited about
the Democratic Party. But because of when it was scheduled, almost nobody
saw it.

If Democrats are going to win the White House in November, they need to be
making their case to the American people NOW -- and the debates are one of
their best opportunities to do so.

The DNC is running out of time to schedule additional debates. Will you sign
my petition to Debbie Wasserman Schultz and the DNC asking for more
weeknight, prime time Democratic debates so America can learn more about our
candidates?
