Maybe, there could be two catagories of friendly games a short version and a long version and agree to it before you start the game.

Having a standard time limit for friendly games is fine with me, but perhaps in stating this the policy could say "Players may agree to a tighter or lighter time control in advance if desired."

If a time control is established for friendly games, I would suggest some sort of flexibility be built into it. For example, instead of requiring a mave within, say, 24 hours or 48 hours, allow players up to (example) 10 days total time, where each day past the initial 24 hours counts as one day.

Just suggestions...
